EHS Parent Network - High School Newsletter

EOC Exam Testing Window
April 16th - May 5th
The EOC (End of Course) Exams will be given to high school students starting Monday, April 16th and ending Thursday, May 3rd with a make up day on Friday, May 4th. Please make sure your student is here on time and encourage your child to do his/her best on the exams. Please check here for a complete schedule of exams.
 

Balfour Class Ring Order Date
Wednesday, April 18th
Just recently the Balfour Rep for our school met with the sophomore class to pass out class ring packets. Please make certain you discuss this with your student and note that the order date is Wednesday, April 18th at lunchtime outside the dining hall. A $60 deposit is due at the time of ordering. 
 

Rising Senior Parent Meeting
Thursday, April 19th
There will be a meeting for Junior parents on Thursday, April 19th at 6pm in the Theatre.  We will discuss the upcoming senior year for juniors and provide an overview on financial aid that include scholarships, TN HOPE and the TN Promise! 
Additionally, there will be a Capstone meeting in the theater for all Juniors on April 18th during Directed Studies. Please make sure your student attends.

New Principal Survey
Complete by April 25th
Hamilton County Schools is in the process of selecting a new principal for EHMHS.  A survey has been developed to involve parents in the process and we would like you to participate.  The survey is very short and will ask what characteristics and qualities you would like in a new principal.  


Please take a moment to participate in the process of finding a new principal.
The survey will also provide an opportunity for you to let the new school leader know the programs you would like to see continued and areas you feel could be improved.

The survey will be open until the end of the day on April 25th.

2018 EHHS Prom
Saturday, April 28th
The 2018 Prom will be Saturday, April 28 from 7PM to 11PM. It will be at Stratton Hall at the foot of Lookout Mountain. The theme this year is Moonlight Masquerade. More details will be sent out about the requirements for the type of mask that students may wear. 
Prom Tickets - $50 before Spring Break, $60 after Spring Break. April 20th is your last day to buy tickets. No tickets will sold at the door.
 

CHI Memorial Summer Volunteer Program
Application due May 1st
CHI Memorial Hospital has volunteer opportunities available this summer for high school and college students interested in volunteering in a hospital setting.
In order to participate in our summer program:
  • Students must be 16 years of age or older before May 7, 2018.
  • Students must be able to attend orientation on May 8, May 24, or May 30.
  • Students must be able to volunteer 8 hours a week for a minimum of five (5) weeks between 5/14/18 and 8/24/18.
You may ask your guidance counselor for more information, or call Volunteer Services at 423-495-8610. Go to www.memorial.org/volunteer to download an application packet. 
 

CLUBS & SPORTS INFORMATION

Sugar Cane Dance Tryouts
April 16th-19th
 
Sugar Cane Dance Team Try-Outs are April 16-19 from 2:30-4:00. Current physical and completed packet required. Packets can be picked up from Ms. Montgomery Upper Blue or Mrs. Faulk Upper Green.

HS Golf Info Meeting

Students interested in playing high school golf need to attend an informational meeting in Coach Stetzler's room during advisory on Wednesday, May 2nd from 9:30-10:00.  Please contact Coach Stetzler if you are unable to attend.

Summer Swim Tune-Up Clinics
April and May
 
Interested in getting a quick tune-up to prepare for summer swim season? There are a couple of clinics offered for novice and experienced swimmers. 
Thinking about joining a local swim team to stay in shape and have fun this summer? Here are a few close by that you can contact for more information.

Don't forget that EHMHS has a swim team that competes in the fall and winter as well!

Graduation Singer Auditions
Wednesday, April 18th
 
Seniors, if you are interested in singing for graduation or senior night you my pick up a form from Mrs. Holmes or Mrs. Baxter. Tryouts will be Wednesday, April 18th in the choir room at 2:20pm.

Senior Fee Collection
Due Now
 
Seniors: Senior fees are being collected now.  The fee is $50 please see Mrs. Collier in the front office.

Graduation Practice
Thursday, May 17th
 
Graduation practice will be held on Thursday, May 17th at 8:30am at the UTC McKenzie Arena. Students must attend practice to be able to participate in graduation!

TN Promise Service Hours
Due by July 1st
 
Fall 2018 semester community service hours are due to tnAchieves.org by July 1, 2018. Submit them HERE. You are responsible for submitting your service hours to tnAchieves.org. DO NOT ask your supervisor, other volunteer or parent to submit your hours for you. It is your responsibility to ensure the completed form is submitted on tnAchieves.org by the deadline. If you are enrolling at a TCAT and your program begins in the summer, you will have 8 hours of community service due by April 1, 2018.
