A firm, knowledgeable hand is on the rudder as East Hamilton High School selected Erick Baird to be the head of Girls
Basketball Operations. For the school’s brief history, the Lady Canes have made strides pursuing a berth at the state
tournament. Of late, the Lady Canes have made 7 consecutive appearances in both the District and Region tournaments
and produced several D1 scholarship athletes.

Throughout the interview process, Coach Baird brought a vision of intensity, fundamentals, and a high basketball IQ
accompanied by a strong record of accomplishments and unexpected wins. During his time coaching at Warren County, he
unexpectedly beat #1 Cannon Country. Coach Baird commented that “he is extremely excited for the Canes return to the
highest classification and playing District and Regional powerhouse teams like Bradley. He believes that with 100% effort
and focus, the Lady Canes will make their inaugural appearance at the State Tournament.
School Principal, Brent Eller, commented that Baird is a natural leader; within minutes of meeting potential players at East
Hamilton, he won them over and gained their trust. According to Mr. Eller, East Hamilton’s hiring process is one of his
most important responsibilities. Our process produces an academic faculty and athletic staff that is impactful throughout
our students' holistic development. Mr. Eller commented that the process produces outcomes and growth in the reputation
and climate of the school and community.
East Hamilton Athletic Directors Keitha Booker and Eric Mountain explained that they are extremely proud of the effort
and commitment to the coaching search. Keitha Booker made an instant connection with Coach Baird’s Basketball passion;
he felt the same passion when he led Boys Basketball at Tyner High School. Eric Mountain added he was touched by Coach
Baird’s ability to instantly build meaningful relationships with his players citing that it is often the key factor and difference
maker between a team and the longevity of a program.
Following this announcement, Coach Baird will greet players and parents; aside from basketball, Coach Baird will head East
Hamilton’s new student learning experience. When asked, Coach Baird stated that he appreciated the trust that East
Hamilton’s Administrators had placed in him and is excited by both the school’s academic and athletic prospects. He is
humbled by the opportunity to join the great work at East Hamilton; Go Canes!
